Rally Obedience, commonly called Rally, is a fun and engaging dog sport that combines obedience training with teamwork and communication between dog and handler. In Rally, teams move through a course of posted signs, each directing the handler and dog to perform different obedience exercises such as sits, turns, recalls, and heeling patterns.
Unlike traditional obedience, Rally encourages a more relaxed and interactive environment where handlers may praise and encourage their dogs throughout the course. This makes Rally an excellent introduction to performance sports for both new and experienced handlers.
Shelties are especially well suited for Rally due to their intelligence, eagerness to learn, and strong desire to work closely with their people. Rally helps build confidence, focus, and communication while strengthening the bond between dog and owner in a supportive and enjoyable atmosphere.
Whether your goal is improved everyday teamwork, mental stimulation, socialization, or eventually competing in CKC Rally events, Rally is a rewarding activity for dogs and handlers of all experience levels.

Rally Obedience is a fun, fast-paced companion sport that builds teamwork between dog and handler. Similar to traditional obedience, rally focuses on essential skills such as heeling, sits, and turns — but in a more relaxed and encouraging environment. Handlers guide their dogs through a course of signs using voice, body language, and praise, creating a positive and engaging experience for both.
Unlike formal obedience, rally emphasizes willingness and enjoyment over perfect precision, making it an excellent introduction to dog sports for beginners, while still offering opportunities to advance through higher levels of competition. Shelties, with their intelligence and eagerness to work, are especially well-suited to this sport.
