Obedience training is one of the best ways to build communication, trust, and teamwork between you and your Sheltie. From basic manners and recalls to advanced competition exercises, obedience helps dogs learn focus, confidence, and self-control while strengthening the relationship between dog and owner.
Shelties are well known for their intelligence, eagerness to learn, and strong desire to work closely with their people, making them excellent obedience dogs. Their quick learning ability and enthusiasm allow them to excel both in everyday family life and in CKC Obedience competition.

Starting obedience training early helps puppies and young dogs develop:
Training classes are also a wonderful way for owners to meet fellow Sheltie enthusiasts, connect with club members, and become involved in the Sheltie community in a welcoming and supportive environment.
As part of club membership, new members receive one free set of classes — a value of over $150 and a fantastic way to get started with your Sheltie.

Living in Alberta means we understand winter weather! During the colder months, many of our classes and training opportunities are held indoors so members and dogs can continue learning year round. Once summer arrives, we take advantage of the warmer weather and enjoy outdoor training and activities together.
Whether your goal is a well-mannered companion, improved communication with your dog, or eventually competing in CKC Obedience events, our club encourages members of all experience levels to get involved and have fun with their Shelties.
